Reception in Brussels on the occasion of the Victory Day!

It has been 74 years since the end of the Great Patriotic War qnd Second World War, but May 9 was, is and will be our main holiday. This is a day of national triumph, national pride, a day of grief and eternal memory. It is a holiday when the all-conquering power of patriotism triumphs, when we all feel particularly keenly what it means to be faithful to the Motherland and how important it is to be able to defend its interests.

On May 15, a solemn reception on the occasion of the Victory Day was held at the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Brussels! The event was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps of Russia: the Embassy of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Permanent Mission of the Russian Federation to the European Union, Ambassadors and representatives of the Embassies of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, representatives of European institutions, public figures, scientific intelligentsia, active Russian compatriots, foreign guests.

 

The main persons of the event were war veterans: Ivan A. Bashkatov, born in 1921, a former prisoner of war, for a long time developing the Friendship Society of Belgium and the USSR; Oleg B. Lyubich, born in 1936, labor veteran, resident of besieged Leningrad; Elena M. Yagodkina, Vice-President of the Administrative Council of the Union of Soviet Citizens. The unbreakable bond of generations is our great national wealth, in it is the strength and dignity of Russia. We thank our veterans. We are proud of you!

Victory in the Great Patriotic War is a milestone that changed the world, an event of universal human, global scale. And no matter how many years have passed since the triumphant May 9, 1945, our country will always honor the generation of winners.

The event was opened by the head of the Russian Center for Science and Culture in Brussels, Vera G. Bunina, and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Belgium, Alexander A. Tokovinin. There were many foreign guests in the hall, and the participation of representatives from CIS countries was especially important. The speakers noted that we will always remember that the Victory was obtained by the unity and the true brotherhood of all the peoples of the USSR - the Soviet Union.

A gala concert dedicated to the Victory Day “Songs of the war years” was organized for the guests; the leading soloists of the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Center performed in the program. The songs “Cranes”, “Blue Scarf”, “Katyusha”, “Smuglyanka” and many others filled this evening with memorable memories about the feat of our peoples. At the end, they all sang together the song "Victory Day".

We celebrated this Victory Day with happiness and tears in our eyes!
