This film is an adaptation of not only Lev Tolstoy’s novel, but also the works of Vikentiy Veresaev about the Japanese war.
In the picture, there are two storylines at once, which are connected by one story. The events take place in two time intervals and in two countries - in the second half of the XIX century in the Russian Empire and at the beginning of the XX century in China during the Russian-Japanese war. In 1904, the son of Anna Karenina, Sergei, at war, meets the aged Vronsky, and he tells him his story.

Starring - Elizabeth Boyarskaya and Maxim Matveev.

Filming took place in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Tula region. In addition, the group conducted field surveys in the Crimea, where they specially built and then burned the whole Chinese village.
